This November, Shock Forest Group invites new participants to join them in their work at Van Abbemuseum to collectively create a radio program and form a ‘New Temporary Shock Forest Group’. The syllabus for the three-week workshop will revolve around the recurrent themes from their research and guided by the examples from their work. The workshop is a part of 'Cosmic Radio' project. Sign up for the workshops.
What is Cosmic Radio?
Cosmic Radio is an in-depth and extensive project researching past, present and future of radio in the broadest sense of the word. The research is done by Shock Forest Group and took place in the city of Eindhoven from the 28th of March until the 16th of April and continues on from the 13th of November until the 3rd of December 2023. The second phase of Cosmic Radio concludes with the activation of an antenna installation on the 2nd of December and a live radio program on the 3rd of December, both at Van Abbemuseum.
Who is Shock Forest Group?
Shock Forest Group consists of seven researchers: Katya Abazajian, Sheryn Akiki, Axel Coumans, Susanna Gonzo, Nicolás Jaar, Daria Kiseleva and Jelger Kroese. It’s an international, multidisciplinary collective of musicians, designers, linguists, coders and ecologists. They believe in a free form way of researching, examining a polyphony of truths that are able to resonate and reverberate within and through the places they are embedded in.
For the Cosmic Radio project, Shock Forest Group works with STRP Festival, Van Abbemuseum, TAC and NUL ZES. Read more about the installation at STRP Festival and listen to the radio broadcast at STRP Frequencies.
Cosmic Radio is presented by Unusual Suspects in collaboration with Powered by TINC and made possible by Brabant C, Stichting Cultuur Eindhoven, Eindhoven 247, Het Cultuurfonds, Fonds21 and the generous support of all cultural partners involved.
